From the first day I saw a local DJ
perform at one of the many block parties from back in the day I knew
that I would one day be that same person enjoying the energy and vibes
from the crowd.
The year was 1989 when I was able to
purchase my first set of turntables. Fascinated with DJ’s like Scott
Blackwell, Freddy Bastone, Tony Humphries, and Roger Sanchez. I would
practice in my room on a daily basis trying to be the same. After a
timeless effort and hundreds of hours of practice I was convinced that
I was ready. Considering myself a true “House-Head” for beginners
I started doing the typical house parties which lead me to connect with
some other DJ's from around the way mixing house music at the local
spots. I knew to be an even better DJ you must expand your vision and
be able to play all styles of music through this vision I embraced my
Spanish roots and made the crossover to my beloved “Latin”. Around
the mid 90's I landed my first gig at a local but very popular night
club in Paterson, NJ called Mariah Palace. Playing for crowds well into
the hundreds I went ahead and began working the scene with a passion.
Since DJ was my source of income there was never a gig to refuse. Taking
on the the name Alex Productions I met a few people in the corporate
world which heard me play and were interested in hiring me for there
private functions. Amazed on the amount of money I was able to make
on a private function, since bars and clubs did not pay very well back
then I continued to pursue this cliental with much success.
Not satisfied with just playing music
and promoting my long time and childhood friend Manny approached me
to work with him for a local but large sound company from Passaic as
a sound engineer. Since I already had the ear for a great mix I decided
to accept the offer. A move that allowed me to promote Alex Productions.
During the 3yrs as a sound engineer I was able to work at major nightclubs
such as Studio 84, Sequoias, and LePollet to name a few. I have mixed
sound for major Salsa, Merengue and Bachata bands of that time. From
Jose Alberto “El Canario to Tito Nieves… From La Banda Loca to Benny
Sadel... And from Anthony Santos to Raulin Rodriguez. Although the
industry has changed the desire and passion is still here. I have always
been in control of the things I do and I'm always looking for the next
opportunity. You see that's what business minded folks like me do. In
2000 I made a commitment and made Alex Productions into an official
disc jockey entertainment business. We provide equipment rentals and
PA systems for any type of functions. We specialize in all types of
events from Private to Corporate to Club. I am proud to say Alex Productions
with over 15yrs of experience has performed at hundreds of venues in
the Tri-State area. Although I am not the cheapest service in town.
The cliental and references speak for themselves. Most recent in 2009
I joined the new movement on TuSabe Radio. With an array of DJ's playing
every night we aim to be the future of Internet Radio. You can catch
me play every Sunday from 8-10pm and you can still catch me playing
at a club/lounge near you.
